All England had to do was beat Wales at Wembley and the Grand Slam was theirs. Going into added time they were ahead and the dream was about to be realised. But as the ball came out of a shortened Welsh line-out, Quinell and Gibbs called a move they had discussed but never practised and the latter's 30 yard run 'against the grain' broke the English defence and hearts as he touched down for a dramatic try. Neil Jenkins converted and Wales hung on for a famous victory 32-31. Unbelievable.
