This mad little journey creating football into art leads us to get the opportunity to speak to and learn from people across the world. ⁠

We’ve been aware of @gamagalhaes_ for a while, and his brand @camisadfut . So we thought it time to get in touch, and see exactly what it was that made him decide to go down the path of creating artwork himself, all the way on the other side of the world.⁠

⁠Gabriel is from Caçapava, near to São Paulo. Unfortunately, they don’t have a football team close to where he lives. So naturally, being from that part of the world, you have three choices. Corinthians, Palmeiras or São Paulo FC. He chose the former. ⁠

⁠But as Gabriel explained to us, in Brazil it’s not as simple as picking a team from the next town over. It’s not as if you’re living in Chester supporting Liverpool. Brazil’s a f****** massive place. ⁠

“As a football fan, I’ve always had to satisfy my desire for the game remotely, I’m an avid Corinthians fan, I’ve always lived in the interior of the state, 104.3 km away from Neo Química Arena, and I’ve had few, but memorable, chances to go to the stadium!”⁠

Part of that satisfaction came from combining his creativity with the beautiful game. Alongside his fiancee, Larissa, Camisa de Fut was born. ⁠

In his own words, “While she has a degree in cinema, I have always illustrated, and we both work with design, so bringing everything together to create products, a brand, videos, manage social networks. What at first was just to show our work, creating a portfolio full of possibilities, became a great passion and test tube, combining art and football, a little like you!”. ⁠

His work focuses on the local, such as the Corinthians team of the 80’s. To the continental, capturing other giants of South America such as Boca Juniors. To the world. Zizou. Bellingham. Baggio. All the greats that inspire so many all around the world. ⁠​

It’s one of the many blessings of this job to be able to connect with creative people all over the world. Thank you Gabriel and Larissa for allowing us to tell your story. ⁠
