🎮 Gamebreaker - the legacy of FIFA Street.
Ronaldinho. Thierry. Deco. Ronaldo. Rooney. Adriano. Totti. Cristiano. Raul. Duff. The original FIFA Street ballers from 2005.
Capturing the setting of a Rio de Janeiro suburb, FIFA Street was the ultimate football trickster game where rainbow flicks were rife and flip flaps reigned supreme. It was a game that required complete control of near impossible skill moves, as well as the ability to play with freedom and playfulness
The game was like nothing that had been available to gamers before. It allowed the player to truly express themselves on the pitch and go a bit crazy, in contrast to the regular FIFA series. Freestyle football was very much on trend at the time with the likes of Ronaldinho showcasing his skill-based ability on a weekly basis. The quick tempo of the 4v4 matches made for some pretty wild gameplay.
One of our favourite touches on the original FIFA Street is the outfits. The ‘casual’ attire of the in game players was appealing to fans around the world. Who doesn’t want the opportunity to megs Wayne Rooney, pull off a rainbow flick to perfection and smash one past a hapless Fabian Barthez, all whilst playing as Adriano in cargo shorts and OG Adidas Sambas?
Simpler times. When bagging a ‘game breaker’ with R10 was the highlight of your evening. When using the wall as a ‘fifth’ player became part of your standard arsenal of tactics. When the ‘Rule the World’ career mode was all we lived for. When Damien Duff was one of the best wingers in world football.
FIFA Street became the stuff of legend. The 2005 edition has a cult following to this day and will be forever remembered as a mythical game that the streets will never forget. This design pays tribute to its legacy.
